About KIU

Kashim Ibrahim University (KIU) is a state-owned public university located in Maiduguri, Borno State, Nigeria. Established in 2016 as Borno State University (BOSU), the institution was renamed in 2025 in honour of His Excellency Senator Kashim Shettima, former Executive Governor of Borno State.

The University is committed to producing highly skilled graduates who combine knowledge, character and service. Through innovative teaching, impactful research and community engagement, KIU serves as a hub of intellectual and socio-economic development for the North-East sub-region and Nigeria at large.

Admissions
Undergraduate Admissions – 2025/2026 Session

KIU admits students through the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), Direct Entry, and Inter-University Transfer. Candidates are expected to participate in the University’s Post-UTME/Screening exercise and must satisfy both JAMB and University minimum entry requirements.

  • 5 O’Level credits in relevant subjects (including English and Mathematics).
  • Acceptable UTME score in the chosen programme.
  • Participation in KIU screening / post-UTME exercise.
